The "Core i7 Desktop Monster Machine" - A True Love Story (Part I)

As I already mentioned in my last Post, I ordered a lot of good hardware stuff for my new Desktop PC.
Yesterday, finally, everything arrived in two big packages. One for the case and one for all the other little things which will make me happy. Total weight lies at 31.2 kg. Must have been a lot of postage to the seller - the first time I see the advantage in paying my part in a lump sum ;).

I need this little baby especially for games like Aion, but I think it will be also great for development of... well... games :D.
So whats in here exactly? Let's take a look at the next picture:

The most important components in more detail:

Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Mainboard
I just can't tell everything about this thing because it has so many technology featurs:
  • 6,4 GT/s QPI (Goodbye FSB)
  • 2oz Copper PCB (less impedance, less warm)
  • X58 Chipset for Intel Core i7
  • Tripple Channel DDR3 RAM
  • Supports 2 or 3-way SLI
  • and more...
Intel Core i7-920 Quad Core CPU
  • 4 physical CPU
  • 8 logical CPU through HyperThreading
  • running at 2,66 Ghz (will be overclock to 3 ;))
  • 8 MB L3 Cache
  • 4,8 GT/s QPI
MSI GTX 260-Twin Frozr 896 MB OC-Edition
  • Overclocked by manufacturer
  • Got 2 of them :P
6 GB(3x2GB) Corsair RAM (CL 7)
lower latency for some more euros =)

Corsair TX850W Power Supply

and a lot of more cool things =).

Some pictures of the case:

The big fan on the right has a diameter of 25 cm and gives a good blow to the hardware.

I will build this machine in the next few days. Still have some studies and work to do, right now.
Expect Part II of this true love story next week!

See you all,
Panda

p.s. hope you like my carpet =)

Wating for Aion

NC Soft's 'Aion' is one of the most anticipated online role-playing games ever, and hell, I am wating for this one for more than a year. The release date is just some weeks ahead (25th of sept.), but time tends to run slower, while the release moves closer. This game ist the first title, which has the potential to finally replace Blizzards 'World of Warcraft'.

This game is the perfect mixture, of an MMORPG, asian final fantasy style and a lot of creativity and flexibility in gaming. I just can't tell everything why this game is so great. Just go to the official website, enjoy the videos and look for the graphics and the gameplay. It's just awesome! You should order your copy now ;).

It was one reason for me to buy my new 'i7 desktop monster machine', what I call it(more about this in another post in the near future) . I am really looking forward to play this game and hope my studies won't suffer to much from it :).

Did you know? ~

Game Publisher make most profits in korea. The koreans are fanatics in onlne-gaming(well, besides the fact, they seem to be fanatics in anything ;)). In the second quarter of 2009 NC Soft released the following numbers: Korea made 57% of the profits, whole north america only 8%, germany only 3%. And you thought we were a lot and tough gamers? :)

~ ~ ~

See you guyz in game!

p.s. I think i will play an asmodian cleric. So see you on the dark side ;).

New Blog Online!

Finally, I got my own damn blog, yeah. I need it because .... ehm... dunno exactly, think because everyone except me got one :P. A Halleluia to the world of the web 2.0.

I think I will post very different and boring stuff here. Maybe a bit IT, sth. about music, or even some private things (of course nothing anyone is interested in at all). Let's see what this is heading to =).

Have fun here! I will! ... propably, hopefully, somehow... some time...

p.s. it was really hard to find an appropriate picture for the "about me" section for this blog. I took one from the GC 2008 were I worked for Ascaron and Sacred 2. Hope you like it ;).
